Charcoal Kilns

The kilns are a great location for kids. Check out the acoustics in the kilns by stomping your feet in the center of each kiln! For a short hike, you can venture up part of the Wildrose Trail to the first viewpoint for panoramic views of the valley (about 0.5 miles one way).

Longstreet Boardwalk (Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge)

At the end of the Longstreet Boardwalk lies Jack Longstreet’s cabin- and you can go inside! The cabin makes an ideal location to use your imagination. Play make-believe and transform into a gold miner, out to stake your claim!

Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes

The dunes are a can’t-miss location with the kids! Explore the brush near the parking lot for a chance to see some wildlife, or bring a sled to slide down the dunes together! Hiking to the tallest dunes may not be ideal with children, as the deep sand can be exhausting.

NOTE: Sleds are not allowed on all of the dunes in the park. The Eureka Dunes have rare, endemic plants that would be negatively impacted by sledding.
