Spring Photography Tour - March 12, 13, 14

Cross your fingers for wildflowers!  The Death Valley Spring Photography tour will be held March 12 - 14.

Photographers Tom Gamache and Van Webster will be back in Death Valley National Park for the ‘Wandering Around Outdoors’ Death Valley Landscape Art and Wildflower Photography Tour. 90% of the time will be spent in the field photographing many sites within the park at the right time of day with the remainder of time spent reviewing and constructively critiquing students work.  Some of the locations we may visit are: Dante’s View, Wildrose Charcoal Kilns, Aguereberry Point, Scotty’s Castle, Ubehebe Crater, Titus Canyon, Stovepipe Wells Sand Dunes, Mosaic and Golden Canyons, Devil’s Golf Course, Devils Cornfield, Salt Creek, Zabriskie Point, Ashford Mills, Daylight Pass, West Side Road, Artist Drive and Palette, Badwater and others. The maximum group size is 14.The minimum group size is 4.

Death Valley Exploration Tours

DVNHA is offering a series of four day tours led by author, historian and naturalist Ken Lengner.  Each tour is $25 per vehicle, or $75 for the entire 4 tour series.  Tours will be limited to 25 vehicles, and participants are encouraged to bring their own CB radios for communication and ongoing commentary during the trip.  To RSVP, contact DVNHA Office Manager JJ Graham at 800-478-8564, ext. 10.

The National Park Service started providing daily updates on road and weather conditions on the Death Valley National Park Home Page.  The weekly Ranger Program Schedule, Death Valley Visitor's Guide, and trip planning information are also available on the NPS site.

DVNHA's "Living Death Valley" Soundtrack Wins Calypso Award at the Moondance Film Festival

Composer John Kilburn won the Calypso award for his soundtrack to Living Death Valley: A Journey of Music and Image at the 2009 Moondance Film Festival in Boulder, Colorado.  The forty minute film is directed by Ryan Christensen and Jonah Masterson, with an original score by John Kilburn.

The Calyspo Award is to encourage a spirit of enterprise in saving the environment, habitats and wildlife by creative individuals from around the world.
